SPIDER-MAN 3. That’s right. A sequel to the GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! I was hyped up, but the hype wasn’t as crazy as it was the last time. I was a little older and a little sceptical. Would this sequel outdo the best movie of all time? Hmmm, I’d have to wait and see.
The thing I was most excited about was Spider-Man’s black suit. I thought he looked awesome in it! There was this rather dark and dreary movie poster of Spider-Man brooding in the rain. I HAD to see what that was all about. By this time, my Mum already knew what was up. This was Spider-Man 3, a no brainer, a must-see at the cinema. She agreed to take me and my brother out to the cinema to see it. I was pumped.

At the cinema, we went to the customer assistant looking to buy tickets for Spider-Man 3. Gosh, I get excited just remembering the film! I think my Mum must’ve researched the film showing times beforehand, but the customer assistant said that it was wrong and that the next showing was in an hour. Okay, fine. I can’t remember what we did in that hour, I think a bunch of shopping or something. What I do remember is us rushing back to the cinema, to get there in time. We got there in time, of course, I remember us being rather giddy.
We went to buy tickets but then a different customer assistant told us that the movie started an hour ago. HUH????? WHAT?!?!?!??!?!?!? I’m missing out on Spider-Man 3?????????
This is a worst-case scenario, we’re at Death-Con 3 here! My Mum, the amazing woman that she is, fought back. We were misled by the staff and we demand satisfaction! It was the first time I ever saw a back and forth between the customer and the staff; at one point the manager came out. Me and my brother waited around for about 15 minutes, while Mum sorted it out.
Turns out, there weren’t any more showings of Spider-Man 3. But what my Mum managed to get us were tickets to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for free! Even though, I wasn’t paying for this cinema trip at all, the idea of being able to go to the cinema for free was exciting enough. We got popcorn for free too!
So, while watching Pirates, suddenly, it stopped in the middle. Huh? Why? What happened to the movie? Turns out it was the intermission; the movie was just that long – 167 minutes! We finished watching it and it was fun. I enjoyed it, my Mum also seemed to actually enjoy it too. In fact, she even said that she was happier we saw Pirates instead of Spider-Man. Ouch.
I didn’t see Spider-Man 3 until a few years later. Back in those days, if you missed a movie in the cinema and your Mum wasn’t bothered enough to buy a DVD, that was it, you were out of options. I still haven’t even seen Highschool Musical 3! In short, I liked Spider-Man 3. It doesn’t compare to the first 2 but I still liked it.
That just how it is with the cinema sometimes. Going there can be risk – you don’t know what you’re going to get. And besides, it did lead to one good thing. It led to me writing about it for this blog!
